Welcome to Fresh Lab Visual. Fresh Lab is a media company originally setup to document the downhill mountain bike scene in Scotland. Since establishing in 2010, Fresh Lab have expanded into commercial filming, editing and night club visuals, building up a varied client base along the way. We’ve had the opportunity to work on some exciting projects alongside some amazing people over the last few years –
“‘In The Future’ was the end result of months of hard work for Aberdeen based artist Mike Hughes. The exhibition marked the end of his Graduate in Residency at Gray’s School of Art where he graduated with a First Class Honours degree in Fine Art back in 2012. With the dust just settled, I caught up with Mike to find out a little more about his residency and what the event was all about” Stuz Leel, Fresh Lab Visual.
“This video from Stuart ‘Stuz’ Leel (Fresh Lab Visual) captures Joe Connell of the SC Intense team as the Shredder and harks back to the wide angle lens of Alex Rankin mixed with some pans capturing the flat out speed of Joe ragging his Intense through the woods. Bloody good to see something a bit different and the music just sets it all off, nice work Mr Leel” Dave Jaquin, Dirt Magazine.
“Our video from the 2014 7iDP BC National Downhill Champs is here, and as usual, with modesty intact, it’s another stonker” Rob Lewis, Ride.IO.
“Adding to the pressure of live drawing, Mike asked friend Stuart Leel of Fresh Lab Visual to film the process from start to finish – beer in hand” Victoria Pease, STV Aberdeen.
“You can always tell when the person behind the camera spends a lot of their time actually riding what they’re filming, and this especially true with Fresh Lab Visual’s Stuart ‘Stuz’ Leel. Bike and DH mad, Stuz brings a refreshing approach to filming downhill… combined with some quality tunes, well, it’s pretty reminiscent of the sports video heyday!” Olly Forster, Mountain Biking UK.
“The 20Twenty BMX shop in Aberdeen, Scotland helps to keep the scene strong and fuel local sessions like this one. This gets pretty crazy by the end, with a few impressive technical tricks including a 360 to manny 180 fakie-nose” Zach Krejmas, Ride BMX Magazine.
“I asked Stuz at Fresh Lab Visual to put together a showreel of Element 9’s custom painted helmets, with full creative control being left to Stuz and I was blown away with the results” Craig Scott, Element 9 Graphics.
“I’d like to say a big thanks to Stuz at Fresh Lab for creating some amazing visuals for our club night in The City Cafe recently The bright coloured, fast paced shapes really grabbed the crowds attention” Steven Massey, House of House.
“Stuart ‘Stuz’ Leel has been a favourite here at DWR since he started putting together small edits from the SDA races, this project looks like it’s going to be a cracker” Ian Linton, Descent-World.
